I have always been fascinated by microcosms: the smallest of universes, hidden worlds that encompass so much and are seen by so few. Jewellery pieces are intimate objects, encapsulating their own worlds as they are worn on the body and held in the hand. Once worn and touched, my jewellery reveals layers of intimate detail in their designs, making physical the notion of a private, personal space.
As stand-alone objects, my works entice the eye with their materiality and form. I manipulate acrylic as the principal material, using techniques such as carving, heat-forming, and drilling. The form, translucency, and surface treatments of each piece stimulate a visual and tactile dialogue between the wearer and the work. The wearer is given the opportunity to slow down and reflect, to reconnect to the physical world and to indulge their curiosity.
